Consider the journey of a typical bottle of laundry detergent. 

 

First, the formula is blended using water as a primary ingredient. Then it's poured into a large plastic jug. That jug is boxed, palletized, loaded onto trucks, transported to distribution centers, shipped again to retailers, and eventually carried home by consumers. 

 

The active cleaning ingredients may only represent a fraction of the product being transported. The rest is largely packaging, water weight, and logistics.

 

Laundry detergent sheets take a fundamentally different approach. 

 

By removing most or all of the carrier water, the formula becomes dramatically lighter and more compact. Instead of transporting litres of diluted detergent, manufacturers can transport concentrated cleaning power in a package small enough to fit in a mailbox.

Liquid detergents often contain similar active ingredients but suspended in water-based formulations.

Detergent sheets concentrate those active ingredients into a lightweight, pre-measured format rather than diluting them into a large liquid product.

For years, the industry has trained consumers to equate value with volume.

But sustainability demands a different question: 

 

How much of that product is actually necessary? 

 

Laundry detergent sheets challenge a decades-old assumption that cleaning products need to be bulky, water-heavy, and packaged in plastic.
